辜学薇祖上按族谱可追溯至福建潮州一脉。1932年出生于四川省旺苍县，14岁离家到成都从勤工俭学开始了从医的一生。先后任职于成都第一妇产科医院，成都市卫生局，成都青白江区卫生科，青白江区医院，青白江妇幼保健医院。
和众多的同代人一样，她一生中经历了战争和无数社会动荡的艰辛和磨难，但一直坚强不屈，始终对生活充满信心，对家人同事和病患饱含爱心，数十年忍辱负重，兢兢业业，救死扶伤，造福一方，其行其德，深得人心。曾任成都市人大代表，在医院和保健院工作中得到各级表彰嘉奖。
退休后在美安渡晚年期间。长期积极参加社会活动，为海外同胞尽心尽力提供免费医疗咨询服务。曾在国内外报刊媒体发表不少文章和自己在生活中的所见所闻。2020年9月在家因病逝世，享年88岁。
辜学薇的先生王定凯在她80岁生日时曾为其赋诗一首，贴切地总结了她的一生：
迈越坎坷一路平，身心健美世所钦。
医精德馨口碑在，齐家理政令名存。
含饴弄孙天伦乐，修辞立诚诗人情。
八十春秋可圈点，松贞鹤逸梅精神。
Gu, Xue-Wei, 辜学薇, with family name Gu 辜 and given name Wei 薇, vicia sepium in Chinese. The middle Xue 学 is a pre-assigned generation name of the Gu family. The Gu family who originated from Chaozhou can be traced back to the Tang dynasty, Fujian Province. Their original name was Lin. The emperor granted them the new name Gu as an award.
Wei was born in 1932 in WangChang County, Sichuan Province of China. At the age of 14, she left home alone to Chengdu City, the capital of Sichuan province, and got her first job as a medical assistant in an obstetrics and gynecology hospital. She later went to medical school and studied Obstetrics and Gynecology.
During her career, she had worked at the Chengdu First Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, the Health Bureau of Chengdu City, the Health Department of Qingbaijiang District, Qingbaijiang District Hospital, and Qingbaijiang Women and Children’s Hospital.
Like many at her time in China then, she had experienced much hardship and mistreatment during WWII, China’s civil war, and numerous political turmoils. But she had always been strong and optimistic for life and had been passionate for her family, colleague, and patients. She was well-known for her love and dedication to her patients and had saved or changed hundreds and thousands of lives.
She was a representative of the People’s Congress of Chengdu and had received various professional awards from the central, provincial, and municipal governments.
After retirement, she lived in the United States with her family. She had continued to help new immigrates to provide them with free medical consultation services.
She passed away in September 2020 at the age of 88 at home in Indianapolis, Indiana.
